Another One Down
The programmes are piling up on the DVR, as I've been reading more and watching the telly less. Today, another book was added to the "Books Read in 2012" list. I have to say - I'm really loving the ability to check out library books on the Kindle (of which I owe a big thanks to my sister for e-mailing me her library card number and letting me use it). "Let's Take the Long Way Home", a non-fiction memoir of friendship, by Gail Caldwell had been on my Amazon wish list for months; turns out, it was available at the library. As I read it, I found myself highlighting quotes throughout, and that tells me it's something I might want to keep around and read again. But here's the thing with library loans on the Kindle - you can't just not return it to the library. Once the loan period is up, the book is automatically removed from your Kindle and sent back (which, honestly, given my chequered past with library books - that's a good thing!). So what does that mean? I think it pretty much means that I'm anticipating a $9.99 deduction from my Amazon gift card balance in the very near future.
