Second post of the day. Just couldn't pass this up.
I've had enough of the wind. It really started to pick up overnight, to the point that I couldn't sleep. Do you know that noise you can make by pinching and stretching the opening of a balloon when releasing the air? That's what it sounded like in my house this morning, only it was much louder and lasted for several hours! What had started out as a good nights' sleep disappeared at some point very early this morning. We had sustained winds around 30 mph, with gusts in the 60-70 mph range. The BBC has an article about it here (both the East Midlands and Northamptonshire, the area where I live, are mentioned).
To top it off, today was rubbish day. I didn't bother to put my bins out for collection, as I knew they'd blow over and scatter my recycling throughout the neighbourhood. Instead, I kept them tucked into a little area next to the house in hopes they wouldn't blow over. It didn't work.
11.13am - All 4 blown over with some of the recyclable rubbish scaling the fence and ending up in the back garden (the 4th is a smaller food waste container - it's against the fence near the gate). I moved the recycle bin inside the fence to a corner that offered some protection from the wind.
12.18pm - Despite being tucked back by the grey bin with the chimney helping to block the wind, we ended up with another one blown over.
14.31 - I think Mr. Brown is just playing with me now. He decided to move halfway across the driveway, but didn't tip this time.
I ended up making readjustments twice more, but believe the wind is now starting to die down a bit. Let's hope so!

We have to keep our cans in the garage cause animals will tip them over and of course the windy weather does blow them all over the place. Sounds like you had an extra heavy wind blowing your way!!
