It Sucks!

Pretty sad when the highlight of your day is getting a new hoover.  First, a reminder on the definition and use of the word hoover.  For the British, any vacuum cleaner, regardless of brand, is called a hoover.  Not only is it used as a noun (as in, "I bought a new hoover today"), it's also used as a verb (as in, "I hoovered the lounge").

To be fair, I got my money's worth out of the vacuum cleaner I had, but that's only because it was free.  And maybe it could have been saved with a bit of work, but I honestly just could not stand to look at it any longer.  Seriously, the thing alternated between picking up nothing (not even a little piece of fuzz) to hoovering up dirt and then spitting it out the back (really!).  It's off to the tip tomorrow.

So I broke down and went to Argos today.  I can't believe this was my first trip ever to Argos - I think it's a British institution.  If any of you Americans remember the old Service Merchandise stores, it's kind of like that.  There are a few items on display in the showroom, but for the most part, you pick your merchandise out of the catalogue.  You then pay for it at the counter and someone goes to the back storeroom to get it for you.

For the record - this new hoover sucks!  And I mean that in a good way.  I hoovered the whole house and didn't drop the f-bomb once!

Leaving the car park - I couldn't help but laugh at this sign.

As for the rest of my day, I did a little work at the pub and got in a good workout at the gym.

Gary bought me a new vacuume, with a free steam mop. Still like my old canister better cause it gets under things better. My whole house is tiled so the steam mop works great! Actually I don't like to use any of them!!

I could use a steam mop too! Looks like you got your keyboard fixed, or got a new one. :-)
